Side Effects of Smoking

Some people believe that smoking is something that is perfectly normal and should not be a cause for alarm. Why they think that way, we cannot really tell. If anyone you know tells you that smoking is not dangerous and does not affect lives drastically, here is a list of side effects that you can mention to prove your point on how dangerous nicotine actually is.

One side effect of smoking that is common to all smokers is that they smell bad. No matter what type of perfume they use to mask the smell, there will still be a pungent odor stuck on their clothes.

Since smoke passes through the mouth, the first ever part of the body that suffers is this. If you examine the gums of a smoker, you would notice that they are darker than non-smokers. This means that their gums are not healthy and are more prone to gingivitis and other mouth problems. Their teeth discolor as well.

As soon as it enters your system, cigarette smoke works like a soldier penetrating the deepest and strongest fortresses of the body. It attacks your respiratory system and could cause anywhere from asthma to lung cancer. It also affects your heart and smokers are popular for having heart attacks.

Other than the obvious, studies show that smokers are most likely to acquire lifestyle related diseases such as cancer. If you think that cancer derived from smoking is limited to cancer, you are definitely wrong. Most cancers are worsened by the nicotine and various deadly chemicals intelligently infused into your cigarette stick.

Before you become a victim of any of these, better get your act straight and quit smoking. Or else, you might only stop when you are already in your deathbed.
